A Hairy Situation.

I apologise for the amount of pictures! Boring stuff, but I will be using this post a reference for myself. Sorry! Oh, and the lame blog post titles, I'd like to apologise for those too.

So, I need a haircut. My hair is really, really long. I think the last time I got my hair cut was around 12 months ago and that was only a trim.

I'm not going to lie: I have NOT been taking care of my hair. The ends are horrible; split ends all over the place. I guess I haven't been paying much attention, since I never meant for it to get this long! Believe me, my hair is not this long as a fashion thing - it's pure laziness!

To give you an idea of how long it is.  (Pic from Google Images)

Anyway, it is time for a cut. I was planning on lopping off around 10-15cms. It would still be long; around shoulder blade/boob (depending on which angle you're viewing me from ;) ) length - nothing drastic, or overly exciting. A safe decision. Something like this (loving the colour too!):

But then I had to go look for inspiration, didn't I? Now I'm more than a little confused! I found these:

Katie Holmes - I am obsessed with these two pictures, loving that hair! (Pics from Google Images)

I have done the blunt fringe twice before. It looked good the first time, but when I got it done again a few years later, it just wasn't the same. Probably won't be going there again for another couple of years. The bob, however, I am considering.

Also inspiring this extreme change is Domestic Divinity. When I first saw the pics in December (here) I loved it, but never imagined I'd be able to pull it off (I feel so dirty saying that... I may be a little immature!). I also love her current haircut, but I KNOW I definitely could not make that work!

I am also loving the angled bob (shorter at the back, and tapers down towards the front) - but Winter is coming, and I my neck will get cold! That's my excuse anyway. I just have no guts. (Pic from Google Images)

Other things that I must consider: I look crap with a side part, so I am stuck with a centre part. My hair is very straight and does not hold styles well.

Some centre part action! (Pics from Google Images)

When I was around 17, I dyed my hair very dark brown, and it has been that way ever since. I'm currently growing it out to my natural colour, I've made the dark brown fade enough so the regrowth kind of blends in. Needless to say, my hair is up most of the time to hide this! Have you ever made a big change regarding your hair?

I also need to ask: what are the drawbacks to having shoulder length or shorter hair? I know that it will be difficult to put up in a ponytail (lazy work days), but I'm thinking it would be easy to style - I'm not really sure on that though.

So, that's what I'm thinking in the way of hairstyles... don't even get me started on what colour I'm going to choose (Lauren Conrad is my hair colour idol FYI)!

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Box-Holder.

So much for this afternoon... having trouble with the internet at the moment. Weather, perhaps?

After seeing heaps of reviews about Bellabox yesterday, and having seen reviews of the other 'beauty boxes' over the last few months, I have decided to try one out. Now it is just a matter of choosing one. It seems like a bit of a gamble to me... pick Lust Have It, get a crap one, and find out that Glossybox's was awesome. That would make me a little bit sad.

I'm interested in signing up, because I NEVER buy unnecessary beauty products. Ever. I would love to get some different stuff to try out. Then again, my skin is the best it has ever been right now (no idea why, but it's awesome) so maybe I shouldn't play around with it!

Does anyone have a recommendation? These are what I've looked at so far - are there any others? I can't seem to pick one. I think I Love This Box seemed the best so far over the last few months.

I'd love to review a bunch of products - even if a million other bloggers review the exact same things. I think it would be great fun. In fact, I bought a new cleanser yesterday for $3.99 (that's about my dollar limit for these sorts of things, haha) so I'll see what I can do after I've used it for a while.

Are you subscribed to any of these? Are you subscribed to all of these? Let me know what you think of the whole concept!

A Piggy, An Elephant & An Owl Walk Into A Bar...

I am having trouble with this whole blogging thing. Doing them at home isn't really an option, since my man is always around, and I'd be embarrassed if he saw what I was doing. The only other time to do it, is when I am at work, which is just plain awkward, since again, there are always people around. I'm constantly closing my browser whenever it looks like someone is going to walk over to my side of the office, so I am at least thankful that Blogger saves posts as they're being written, so I don't need to start over every time someone walks past and I quickly . But last week at work was stupidly busy, so today, I am organising two posts :)

I thought I'd find some pictures of some of my favourite cheap homeware purchases, and share them.

Target bookends - around $18 (Google Images)

Loved these bookends when I saw them in the Target catalogue, and made time to go and buy them. They are not glossy like I was hoping (my ultimate favourite in homewares and furniture - white gloss!) but they are still gorgeous. At the moment, they are my favourite piece of décor - and they're useful! Bonus points to the bookends.

Salt & Pepper Piggy Bank - $39.95 (Pic from designedbychristina.co.uk)

My piggy! It's quite big, so it fits a lot of dosh in it. I've decided to open it a the end of every year. I can't wait! It comes in a variety of colours, and they're still selling them. I see them at House a lot (and now at Myer), in a few sizes and colours. After wanting it for AGES (I actually couldn't decide between the purple/silver/black or the super colourful one [pictured below], but I'm so glad that I got the darker one now - much more grown up... well as grown up as a piggy bank with polka dots can be!), my man bought it for me for my birthday last year. Love that guy.

My owl and elephant - both from Kmart. I think they were $4 each. They match my piggy bank perfectly, so I have a little menagerie gathered on a bedside table. Very cute.

(As you can kind of see, the shiny black owl matches the shiny black spots on the piggy, and the elephant perfectly matches the silver spots. They were made for each other!)

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this yet, but I am living with my boyfriend. In his parents' house. With his parents. We basically live in their very large family room that connects to our bedroom. His parents are in the separate lounge room most of the time, so we have our own living space. It's not bad, but I have a lot of crap, and it's all confined to the small bedroom.

Everything in this corner of the room is mine. Except the top drawer of that ugly bedside table :) I have also taken over the wardrobe. The boyfriend has I few shirts in there, and that's it. But it is tiny, and it makes me sad when I struggle to squeeze stuff back in there... my poor clothes! Can't wait to move out!

Next post should be up later this afternoon! Try and hang in there if you can, I know you're dying of anticipation ;)

Shoes. So Many Shoes...

I am tired of all these LMFF posts! Purely because I am jealous that I was not invited to sit front and centre as I clearly should have been ;)

I am especially envious of the lucky folks who got to see Dita Von Teese in the flesh. I love her, I think she is fabulous! I have this book and I absolutely adore it. It is my favourite coffee table book!

On a completely different note, I counted my shoes last night. You'd think that since I'm so frugal, I'd have maybe, 5 or 6 pairs of shoes? A pair of heels, runners, two pairs of flats, thongs and sandals. That seems like enough in my head. I'd be very un-excited about the lack of colours and styles, but it would do.

I think I have overstepped (no pun intended) that number. By a lot. From what I have read on the Vogue forums, I don't even have a lot of shoes - those girls lurve their shoes! But last night, as I laid them all out on the floor next to each other, it blew my mind to see SO MANY. I knew I had a few pairs of black flats, but seeing 8 (I think, could've been 9) pairs... I knew it was time to count.

I have 50 pairs of shoes. Or more. I counted 43, and I could think of at least 7 more pairs that are stored at my mum's house.

Who the hell needs that many shoes!? I only have two feet!

It also just clicked in my mind that 50 pairs = 100 shoes. 100! This is just getting worse. No wonder I have trouble finding space for them all. Currently, I have them in the bottom of the wardrobe (which is tiny and the bane of my existence, by the way, but I'll get to that another time), in the bottom drawer of a tallboy, and a few infrequently worn pairs in a suitcase under the bed. They are all neatly lined up next to each other - with flats, one shoe sits on top of the other, which saves a lot of space - but I really need to find a proper way to store them, as I'm not happy with them spread out EVERYWHERE.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? HOW DO YOU STORE THEM?? <-- I need tips! Is it enough or do you need more? What type of shoe do you own the most of? I was surprised when I learned that I have 4 pairs of plimsolls...

xx

P.S. Yeah, I totally just posted about my shoes. With no pictures or anything. Oh the excitement!

WIW; WIWIWW 3

Today, I am dressed in grey. The last two days have been grey and miserable. Raining, storms, flood-watch. I guess Mother Nature decided 'Oh, Summer is just about over. Let's bring on ALL the worst things about Winter. Right now. Haha, I'm a bitch.'

Well Mother Nature... I am ready to GET MY WINTER ON. Forget Autumn. Let's skip straight to Winter; s'all good!

I'd also like to say goodbye to Summer. I would like to thank you for the three days you provided some lovely sunshine. Might see you in 9-10 months. Might not.

I am clearly bitter. I don't even like Summer; I don't understand these feelings.

Here is what I chose to wear today:
WIW

These jeans do get a lot of wear. They were $40 from Cotton On - I was nervous about buying them, as I find Cotton On's stuff to be crapola, generally. But they are magical! They have faded a little, but they still look black; just not quite as black as my other black clothing. Apart from that, they are perfect. I've had them for 5-6 months, and they still fit like a glove. And I have trouble finding jeans (they are always baggy around the knees), so I am so happy with these! Will be buying more in some different colours. I'm thinking rust if they have any...? Anyway, if you're looking for some cheap jeans, go and try these!

I wanted to mention that I have permanent jewellery. This is jewellery that I wear every day, so from now on, imagine any outfits with the following: my (fake) pearl earrings - looking to upgrade these soon to real pearls. They look like real ones though, they aren't pure white like the hideous ones in Diva and such. But they make my ears green with their crappy metal. My (fake) diamond ring is the sparkliest. So I wear it every day. Because I like to be sparkly.

Here is what I wish I was wearing (with that never-ending wardrobe I am planning on inviting into my life ASAP):

WIWIWW

Do you ever have those days where you just cannot picture an outfit in your head? I can usually close my eyes, and imagine exactly what I would look like in an outfit (yeah, it's my special talent)... but not today. So the picture above is probably a nightmare outfit. But that dress! Those shoes! The cardigan is meh, but... that dress! Those shoes! Perhaps not a perfect match together, but they are both divine.

I write too much. And I'm sure people are getting jittery over my short sentences (and my overuse of parentheses). Maybe I should just stick to pictures...
